Pizza Perfection
Mr. Yuzu
It’s been long overdue for me to write a review for these guys. This place has THE BEST thin crust PIZZA I have ever had anywhere! Yes! Anywhere! That includes the whole world! I fucking love pizza and every time I go here I’m shocked at how perfect these pizzas are. Why in the name of all that is holy does a place in Encs (in the middle of buttfuck nowhere) serve pizza like this!? I don’t know but I can’t get enough! It’s a solid 3-hour drive from Budapest but I’ve driven up there a number of times for lunch just to have fucking pizza! That’s retarded! It’s addicting! There aren’t many things you can offer me that I would be willing to drive 6+ hours for, but this pizza (and ribs) is one of them. I do fly to Singapore whenever I’m in Thailand, just to have Xiao Long Baos (soup dumpling), but the flight is only an hour and a half and I don’t even have to pilot the plane.
Everything else we’ve had was nothing short of mouth-wateringly delicious. I never leave without ordering ribs and a couple of pizzas to go. Their wine selection is really good as well. Since they are a stones throw away from Tokaj (Northern Hungarian wine region mostly known for botrytized sweet wine) they have a fantastic selection of drys and sweet white wines. I would definitely come here a couple times a week if it wasn’t so damn far. As far as the pizza is concerned, it is a benchmark think crust pizza for me. Whenever I have something that I consider a benchmark, it’s always a little bittersweet because from now on, every pizza will be compared to this. And until a new benchmark comes along, everything will be a slight disappointment. It’s an absolute must if you can make it up there.

This restaurant is another little gem I discovered through Yuzu. He promised that I will get the best pizza I’ve ever tasted and this place is just amazing. Who am I to question him? Well… Of course, I had a bit of concern, but I was sure that it will be good. The real question was how good a Hungarian restaurant’s pizza can be in the middle of nowhere.
The restaurant is a bit hidden and the buildings around it make you feel puzzled but just wait for the moment you go inside, you’ll forget all of these. The atmosphere is cozy, people are smiling at you and people’s faces around every table convince you that this will be really good. And it is. The pizza is remarkable, super thin crust and small flavor explosions in your mouth. Everything is fresh, crispy, chewy or whatever texture it has to be. This restaurant became the second place I eat food I wouldn’t eat anywhere else. The pork ribs are awesome! Cold, hot, right from the oven or from the fridge at night or the next morning. It doesn’t matter what you order, everything is great. Oh, and let me tell you that they have great pickles too. The pickled fennel is extraordinary.
